New products and new brands from the Neutrik Group in hall 12.1; booth #D86

The Neutrik Group, Schaan, Liechtenstein; 24 April 2023. A raft of new products are being shown by the Neutrik Group’s NEUTRIK®, REAN® and CONTRIK® brands at Prolight+Sound this year. These include new and extended product ranges from the group’s latest brands, as well as continuing expansion of some of its most recognizable product lines, incorporating a breadth of applications for power, audio, video, lighting and data.

Among advanced power solutions being featured on the booth are the new grey / blue colour coded NEUTRIK powerCON XXA / XXB lockable, rugged power connectors. With discrete power-in and power-out keying, and an new ergonomic design, featuring an easy to assemble slip-proof two-compound molded housing (with the strain relief mechanically locking with the insert to align with the housing), they are certified as complying with the latest relevant worldwide device safety regulations for mains supply connectors: particularly IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60320-1, relating to true breaking Circuit Breaking Capability (CBC) functionality.

REAN is expanding its ranges of power XLR and Ethernet connectors, introducing heavy-duty ‘outdoor’ variants, primarily focused on LED display and lighting applications The lockable, ruggedized X Series power connectors have CBC functionality, and are UL 94V-0 and IP65 rated for high levels of fire retardancy and environment resistant protection. The latest XLR and Z Series RJ45 / Ethernet connectors feature REAN’s new Air-tightness protection, in addition to IP65 rating.

CONTRIK offers a range of professional portable power distribution systems for entertainment, event, touring and mobile production applications; specifically for video walls, stage lighting and audio installations. CONTRIK is debuting its range of ‘Active’ power distribution products at PL+S, including Containers, Racks, Turtles and Strips. These feature highly durability, rugged protective construction and a range of advanced circuit protection features, including full CDC functionality and CEE32A high power capacity input and daisy chaining. CONTRIK products feature high levels of mechanical (IK) and environmental (IP) protection, with CONTRIK’s exclusive Easylen® housing material uniquely providing high levels of flame retardancy, temperature resistance, UV protection, corrosion insensitivity, non-conductivity, and protection from mechanical impact (up to IK 10+).

NEUTRIK’s new speakON NLFXX series audio connectors expand the range with the NL2FXX and NL4FXX 2-pole and 4-pole cable connectors. The new connectors feature a locking boot to protect against unintended opening, together with a unique two-compound housing to improve handling in daily operation. The new connectors are easier and smoother to assemble, as the strain relief chuck snaps to the insert.

NEUTRIK is also launching a redesigned, new form factor version of its patent-pending silentPLUG instrument ¼ inch jack plug. silentPLUG automatically mutes (shorts) an instrument (guitar) cable to avoid pops and squeals when changing the instrument (guitar) under load. The integrated (patent pending) silent switch is based on REED-technology and guarantees a lifetime beyond 1,000 mating cycles. The new version features a new two compound housing, with a rugged metal shell enhanced with a rubber cushion overlay for improved shock protection and better handling.

The NEUTRIK opticalCON® ADVANCED fiber portfolio is also expanded with the introduction of two new MTP® high speed, high capacity connectivity systems; creating a standard solution for point-to-point connections in pro AV and broadcast applications. The singlemode opticalCON MTP®16, and the multimode MTP®48 respectively offer 16 and 48 data channels in a single cable. These systems provide cost optimization per single fiber / data channel. The high data capacity is coupled with high reliability, rapid setup and immediate playback while operating in the most challenging applications, in the harshest environmental conditions.

Also to be seen at PL+S are the latest NEUTRIK FIBERFOX HMA fiber optic connector systems: bringing multimode fiber connectivity alive without the need to handle pigtailed bulkheads. Uniquely converting a standardized LC patch cable into an expanded beam solution, FIBERFOX allows for onsite maintenance and repair, with replacement chassis to board connections clipped in place with simple manual connection of common LC patch cords. Systems provide for highly significant savings in time and complexity together with robust performance and high reliability.

Cliff Electronics introduce RAMP – Right Angle Multi-Position – XLR Connectors to connectivity product range

Cliff Electronics leaders in the design, development and manufacture of connectors and test equipment, announce the introduction of the new RAMP – Right Angle Multi-Position  – version of industry standard XLR Connectors to their connectivity product range. Key applications include audio, broadcast, control and instrumentation systems for studios, concert venues, public buildings, schools and offices as well as laboratories and industrial installations.

Manufactured in durable metal the right-angled cable mounted RAMP XLR connectors are available in male with 3, 4 or 5 poles and female 3 and 5 pole versions. The slim design allows for mounting a number of connectors in confined conditions such as compact control panels and wall boxes. RAMP connectors are rated at <50V with current loads of 15A for 3 pin, 10A for 4 pin and 7.5A for 5 pin versions.

The new RAMP XLR connector range can accommodate cable diameters from 3.5 to 8mm. Each connector is supplied with a black rear boot which provides strain relief. Nine other colour options (white, grey, green, yellow, red, blue, brown and orange) allow for panel coding and cable identification that saves users time during installation – now all those XLR leads don’t look the same!

RAMP XLR right-angle connectors can be mounted in the conventional down facing position or at 8 other positions/angles to allow for easier, tangle free, cable drops on the same panel.

The positions and colours may be selected on site during commissioning to reduce part numbers, inventory and ordering MOQs. Coloured boot/strain reliefs are available in single colour packs or convenient rainbow packs,  avoiding wastage of unused colours.

Fischer Connectors enhances IIoT connectivity with ultra-rugged solutions using Single Pair Ethernet and USB 3.2 protocols

Saint-Prex, Switzerland – March 29, 2023 – Fischer Connectors, the Swiss-based global leader in high-performance connectivity, releases ultra-robust Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity solutions to meet the specific requirements of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications in rugged environments.

With the increase in sensor density, actuators and controllers in Industry 4.0 and IIoT operational settings, high power levels and massive amounts of data must be securely and efficiently managed through ultra-fast transmission lines with cables running over long distances. Miniature connectors and cables are needed to interconnect smaller and smaller devices and sensors in areas that are sometimes confined and hard to access. And connectivity must be ruggedized to resist shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, water and corrosion when exposed to demanding environmental and chemical conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

To address these challenges, Fischer Connectors has developed new high-speed data and power connectivity solutions combining Single Pair Ethernet and USB 3.2 Gen 2 high-speed protocols with the rugged, high-density and miniature features of its flagship product lines. They enable space-saving and cost-efficient integration in industrial automation and robotics, chemical plants, food processing, automotive production lines, outdoor sensing and unmanned systems.

The Single Pair Ethernet solutions from the Fischer Core and Fischer UltiMate™ Series allow for 1 Gbit/s data transfer per IEEE 802.3bp – 1000Base-T1. Exceptionally rugged by any market standards, they outperform other suppliers’ SPE solutions in terms of security, durability, as well as environmental and mechanical performance. Fischer SPE is compliant with MIL-STD norms (through Fischer UltiMate™) and offers 10,000 mating cycles, three locking mechanisms (push-pull, screw, quick-release), and hermetic sealing in addition to IP68/ IP69 ratings. SPE is also featured in the ultra-miniature Fischer MiniMax™ connector in ‘size 06’ (Ø 10 mm receptacle).

The demand for USB 3.0+ protocol is high in Industry 4.0 operations, as it offers high data transfer rates with low latency for IIoT control applications, nearly twice the power output than USB 2.0 (900 mA vs. 500 mA), better power efficiency due to lower consumption in idle state, and larger bandwidth. Fischer MiniMax™ connectors with USB 3.2 Gen 2 allow for 10 Gbit/s data transfer, offer additional power contacts up to 8 A, and are half the size of some competitor connectors with similar speed but no power.

To accompany its product release, Fischer Connectors has published a trend paper entitled “The Connectivity Challenge – Connecting Industry 4.0”. It describes three challenges facing OEM engineers designing IIoT applications, as well as three innovation practices addressing cybersecurity, global logistics and Edge/Cloud infrastructure.

Easy Locking Connector receives POY Award
The Easy Locking Connector from binder provides medical equipment with a robust and reliable interface. Well-renowned US trade journal Medical Design Briefs has now honored the particularly safe and biocompatible circular connector with its POY award.
Reliable function, safety in use, biocompatibility, and patient protection are key criteria in medical device engineering. Technical malfunctions, unstable parameters, incorrect use by medical staff or patients may cause serious complications here. In this environment, connectors are subject to the highest demands in terms of contact reliability and signal integrity, resilience of connection, and simple as well as intuitive usability. In addition, biocompatibility and a protection degree appropriate for medical devices, including protection against contact and resistance to cleaning agents or disinfectants, are mandatory.

ELC meets medical application criteria
The Easy Locking Connector (ELC) of the 570 series from binder has already proven its suitability in clinical applications, but also for use in home care. Thanks to 5000 and more mating cycles, the cable connector with snap-in locking is considered to be extremely durable and it is also particularly safe to operate. It features an asymmetrical hexagonal shape in the mating area, which prevents mismating by medical personnel or patients. Once the connection has been made, it is locked by means of a snap hook which also makes proper locking directly audible to the operator. The two-piece design of the ELC, whose assemblies are easy to join together but can only be separated by means of a special tool, also contributes to operating safety.

The Easy Locking Connector is protected to IP54 when mated. In addition, the design of the female panel mount connector prevents the ingress of splash water or liquids even when disconnected, and it protects against accidental electrical contact. The connector is easy to clean and resistant to disinfectants.

Biocompatibility of the 570 series has been tested in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 10993-5 standard. In addition, with the exception of the contact body, the connectors are free from DEHP and thus well tolerated by skin.

Voted most significant new introduction by engineers
Medical Design Briefs is a well-established trade publication within the U.S. media landscape, counting 40,000 subscribers and reaching 100,000 OEM engineers and managers, according to the publisher, SAE Media Group, New York. Medical Design Briefs’ readers have now voted on their product favorite – what they consider to be the most significant new introduction to the design engineering community – of the past year. As one of two winners, binder’s Easy Locking Connector was honored with the ‘2022 Medical Design Briefs’ Readers’ Choice Products of the Year’ (POY) award.
