Neutrik issues NA2-IO-DPRO Controller V2.0

Ryde, Isle of Wight, 29 June 2021. Neutrik has issued an update of its FOC Controller app for its compact, ultra-robust NA2-IO-DPRO I/O Dante® interface device, that enables connectivity of legacy analogue and non networked digital audio equipment within Dante audio networks, in the most demanding application environments.

The DPRO Controller gives users remote control of device functions such as level, mute, gain, phantom power, input signal (including patching input signals to either output) and low-cut filter; as well as monitoring the status of the device and providing the ability to change the its network settings. DPRO also enables save, recall and loading of user presets. V2.0 introduces a completely new device discovery mechanism that dramatically improves the response speed of the software and enhances the user experience by separating ONLINE and OFFLINE devices. For optimal performance DPRO Controller V2.0 should be used in combination with the latest (v9.14) firmware and the website download bundles the updated controller and firmware.

 

Cliff introduces FeedThrough MTP® Fibre-Optic Connector

Cliff Electronics leaders in the design, development and manufacture of connectors and test equipment, have introduced a new addition to their market leading FeedThrough connector range. The MTP®/MTO (multi-fibre push on) FT connector allows fast and reliable through-panel connection of standard 12-72 multimode optical fibre cables.

Demand for MTP®/MTO connectivity is being driven by the development of 40G and 100G transceivers with MPO ports commonly used for data transmission over short distances to connect ports in switches in data centres, and to connect multimode transceivers added to existing networks to other 10G host equipment such as routers, switchers, servers and storage.

To ensure reliable connectivity the connector body is made from black nickel-plated die-cast metal and the insert made from ABS/PC rated to UL94-VO, and features a restraining clamp for secure cable connection. For system security a dust cover is available for when the connector is not in use.

The standard range of FeedThrough connectors from Cliff mount into an industry standard XLR, 23mm, cutout allowing 16 connectors, from a wide range of variants, to be conveniently mounted on 19” rack panels which Cliff can supply pre-assembled. Applications include audio, broadcast, AV and communications installations, medical, education and research and industrial control.

The recently introduced space saving DualSLIM FeedThrough connector series is just 19mm wide allowing 20 connectors to be assembled on a 19” rack panel. In addition to the applications above the DualSLIM is commonly used for NUC computers and mini-PCs, such as Raspberry Pi.

Specifically designed and tested for critical space flight applications, the new SpaceNXT™ K2TVA Series offers a highly reliable, totally passive solution to offset signal strength fluctuation due to changes in temperature – an issue that affects all RF and microwave systems. The attenuation shift over temperature is achieved using thick-film thermistor inks which are screen printed onto a ceramic substrate of Alumina. SpaceNXT™ K2TVA Thermopad® offers the following benefits:

  • Each product is engineered using 3D Electromagnetic Simulation (EM) software to provide excellent TCA targeting. This aids in obtaining the best attenuation flatness and Voltage Standing-Wave Ratio (VSWR) within the specified frequency band.

Cliff Electronics leaders in the design, development and manufacture of connectors and test equipment, have introduced a versatile USB-C male – female connecting cable which supports Power Delivery (PD) charging at 60 watts (20v/@3A), USB 3.1 (Gen 1) 5Gb/s data transfer speeds, and can be used as a video cable for 5k@60Hz video output (Thunderbolt 3) and for audio transmission.

When used in a system equipped with Cliff FeedThrough connectors, both the XLR and SLIM versions, the cable can be used to connect to a monitor in the same way as existing HDMI and VGA FeedThrough connector versions. Cable lengths available include 0.3, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5 and 2m

UK Manufacturing PMI at 65.6 in May

Production growth strengthens as new work intakes rise at record rate Output prices and input costs rise at unprecedented rates Data were collected 12-25 May 2021.

Conditions in the manufacturing sector improved at an unprecedented rate in May, as output growth strengthened and new orders rose at the quickest pace in the near three- decade survey history. Looser pandemic restrictions and high levels of pent-up demand meant that the rapid revival in labour market conditions continued, with staffing levels also rising at a record pace.

The seasonally adjusted IHS Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers’ Index® (PMI®) rose to 65.6 in May, up from 60.9 in April, above July 1994’s previous record high of 61.0. The PMI has signalled improvement in each of the past 12 months.

Manufacturing production rose at one of the quickest rates in the series history, bettered only by those registered in August 2013 and July 1994. Underpinning the latest increase were record gains in new business, as domestic and overseas demand continued to revive. Companies linked new order growth to rising business confidence, the further re-opening of the UK economy and reduced issues relating to COVID-19.

New export orders also rose at a survey-record pace in May, amid reports of stronger demand from the EU, the US and China. That said, there were continued signs that while large companies were seeing record gains in new export work, the rate of increase at small firms was comparatively mild.

The corollary of the strong upswing in the performance of the manufacturing sector was pressure building on capacity, with backlogs of work rising to the greatest extent in the survey history. This was a major factor encouraging firms to reinvigorate their recruitment plans, leading to a record increase in staffing levels at manufacturers.

Pressure also built on suppliers, with the average time taken to deliver inputs to manufacturers lengthening to one of the greatest extents in the survey history. This was linked to input shortages (especially electronics, plastics and metals), transport delays and higher demand for raw materials.

Shortages of raw materials and supply-chain disruption fed through to input costs during May, leading to the sharpest rise in purchasing costs since the survey began in January 1992. This led manufacturers to increase selling prices, with the rate of inflation hitting a survey record.

Manufacturers’ efforts to minimise the impact of supply- chain disruption led to a series-record increase in purchasing activity during May. Rising production needs, building-up safety stocks and guarding against further price rises also contributed to the latest increase in input buying volumes. Inventories of purchases also rose but stocks of finished goods declined as firms used inventories to help meet sales.

May saw business sentiment rise to its highest level since data on future activity were first collected in July 2012. Over 70% of companies forecast that production would be higher in one year’s time, compared to only 3% expecting a decline. Improved optimism reflected the end of the pandemic, economic recovery, planned business expansions, a revival in World trade flows and reduced supply-chain issues.
